Tuesday, August 2nd, 2005. Got off to a slow start today (got into a fight with the snooze button), but the day turned into a good one. Excellent workout for delts and triceps… even hit cardio twice today – once at the (almost) crack of dawn for 45 min, then another 30 at night. (Yes, I worked out THREE times today)!
Wednesday, August 3rd. Back day. Another Richie (“Master Of Pain”) Session. After he kicked my butt last week, I was ready for this one… mentally and physically. It was a doozy, once again, but I felt really good today and kept up with everything he dished out…
Thursday, August 4th, 2005. I wanted to do something completely different for chest and biceps today, so I jumped in my car and drove over to Strong and Shapely Gym. That’s
the place I train when I want Variety with a capital “V”. S & S has something like 40 back machines, 40 leg machines, and probably at least 20-25 chest machines, which came in handy today.
Sunday, August 7th. This shoulders and triceps session was a real hodge podge. Everything from Vince Gironda’s 8 sets of 8 to rest pause to static holds to unilateral training to descending sets. He he… My muscles didn’t know what hit em! They just HAD to grow!
Tuesday, August 9th. Just yesterday, I wrote that “conventional” workouts of regular straight sets often “bore” me and sometimes they don’t seem to do as much for my physique as all the high intensity stuff. My precontest training consists of a LOT of supersets, drop sets, add sets, continuous tension and other intensity techniques. However, today’s workout was nothing but simple, basic exercises, with no intensity techniques except a couple of drop sets. This might seem like I’m contradicting what I said yesterday, but a “normal” workokut was the perfect change-up after the “insane” intensity of the last few back sessions.
Wednesday, August 10th 2005. This week was I was out of town visiting family, so I trained at a different gym and didn’t have access to all the machines available at Strong & Shapely in New Jersey, but it was still business as usual: Lift, Cardio, Eat, Cardio, Eat, etc, etc. I don’t need anything fancy… just give me some barbells & dumbbells and I’m good to go. I’ll be back in Jersey this weekend. Next week, I’m either going to train chest with Richie, or I’ll be going back to S & S on my own and keep mixing up the chest exercises & equipment
Thursday, August 11th, 2005. Leg day. My strength was just a bit off today, but aside from that, the workout was incredible… the techniques I used on the horizontal leg press machine pumped up my quads like balloons (with zero stress on the lower back). Read on to find out more…
Sunday, August 14th, 2005. Strong & Shapely gym, East Rutherford, New Jersey. This is the place I train when I want to use new machines or put some variety into my routine. Shapely has over 40 back machines, including a full line of Hammer Strength equipment, which we put to good use today. It was another killer session, and I could see the difference the day after.
