Welcome to bodybuilding Secrets 2.0! Yes I have finally left the dark ages and updated this site to a shiny new word press blog with a new theme. This blog has been online since 2005 and I have to admit it was starting to look dated. We still have some work to do with the new design and some of the pages need to be re-edited after the blog migration, but I was so eager to get this online, I just had my blogmaster go ahead and flip the switch today…

BodybuildingSecrets.com has been online since 2005. But with the exception of my last bodybuilding competition (that same year), when i blogged almost daily (the details of my contest prep training and nutrition), this site has been mostly inactive. I’ve never made a “secret” of that… at one point I admitted in a blog post that I was “famous” for being the world’s worst bodybuilding blogger! Why?…

The New York Times recently ran a feature titled, “Bodybuilders See Kidney Damage With Steroids.” These stories surface in magazines and newspapers on a regular basis, and many people in the hardcore bodybuilding community are quick to dismiss them as “uninformed, anti-steroid propaganda.” This one however, raised some eyebrows because it not only described the personal plight of several top pro bodybuilders and strongmen whose careers were cut short by kidney disease, it also cited new research that was just published in a top nephrology journal. According to the author, this study was among the first to claim a direct link between long-term steroid use and kidney disease.

Remember when I said they are “hardcore” at my gym (Strong & Shapely Gym, East Rutherford NJ), well, I didn’t realize they were THIS hardcore: I checked in for a workout today (Halloween), and there’s this decapitated arm on the front counter with a gruesome warning mesage:

I unveiled my new muscle blasting “toy” in the last bodybuilding secrets blog post and after a few close guesses and a few guesses that were waaaaay off, somebody finally figured out what this contraption made of wood, black straps and a foam padded dowel is for…. BLASTING THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS OUT OF YOUR QUADS!…(only serious bodybuilders need apply….)

In my last post, I announced the arrival of my new, secret muscle-building weapon in a big 5′ tall box. Readers tried (in vain) to guess what was inside the box… Guesses ranged from a huge vat of protein powder to Monica Brant, Gift wrapped (er, that would be nice, but unfortunately, no, she was not inside the box)… Since it’s obvious that no one is going to guess correctly, I decided to go ahead and unveil the “device” … NOW see if you can figure out what this is…

I received a very special delivery in the mail today… came in a huge box… about 5 feet tall, and 2 feet wide…. inside is my new muscle building secret weapon…

I’d be negligent If I didnt give a shout out to Empire Fitness Club in Hoboken, NJ, where I was the manager for 12 years and where I still train 50% of the time… but the other 50 % of the time, I train at Bob Bonham’s Strong and Shapely Gym in East Rutherford, New Jersey. It’s not only the best equipped bodybuilding gym I have ever trained in, the place has ATMOSPHERE! The stuff that you see in this place…. well… you just gotta see it…

I ran into NPC champ Vinnie Galanti at Strong & Shapely Gym in East Rutherford the other day. That’s one of the things I love about that gym… you bump into top amateurs and even pro bodybuilders on a regular basis. It’s all about the atmosphere, you know! This place is the “East Coast Mecca Of Bodybuilding!!!” (how many gyms do you know that have 250 pound dumbbells with “Ronnie Coleman” painted in white letters across the front???

This is really exciting!
