Vince Gironda was a sculptor. Not of marble or bronze, but of flesh. He was a master of “cosmetic bodybuilding,” which today has become a lost art form. In it’s place have emerged the philosophies of “functional training,” “lift more weight at all costs” and “gain muscle bulk, no matter where it ends up.” In his heyday 50 years ago, Gironda turned out more bodybuilding champions from his North Hollywood studio than another other gym in America. His #1 secret weapon – his “magic chisel” – were his unique “Gironda” exercises…

How much muscle have I gained over the years as a result of using Vince Gironda’s body building techniques over the years? I’m not sure. All I know is that it was a lot! More importantly, it was quality, all-natural muscle. You can do it too if you know the secrets…
I told you I’d be back… and I just did back. Here’s the current mass building back routine:
This weekend’s box office blockbuster, 2012, had me thinking about the workouts that Richie, my “psycho” trainer, has been putting me through lately. If you think all the stuff blowing up, flooding out, crashing down and burning to the ground in that movie was “total destruction,” you should see these workouts…
Guest Blog: Hi, My name is David Grisaffi. I’m a strength and conditioning coach from Tacoma, Washington. Last week I took a trip to the East coast and couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit Tom Venuto while I was out there. Tom and I have been friends for many years and we’ve spent many hours on the phone talking training, sports and other stuff. Now we finally had a chance to meet in person… and I got to witness a workout like you cannot believe!
When you have huge, thick forearms that are so muscular, it looks like you have a bowling pin implanted in them, and when they are so vascular that they look like a map of the Los Angeles Freeway system, and when the cuts are so deep you could lose loose change in there… I think that is pretty darn cool. Gnarly, even. Unfortunately, not many bodybuilders have that “look” because there are two ubiquitous “forearm problems” that almost every bodybuilder experiences… Fortunately, there is a secret remedy for both. It’s not new, it has simply been forgotten, except by those who are students of old time strongman methods…
WNBF natural pro bodybuilder John Bartlett was in town this weekend, so we hit a leg session at Strong and Shapely Gym. There’s certainly no shortage of “toys” to play with on leg day at Strong & Shapely, but when I asked John if he had ever used the QUAD BLASTER before and he said no, I knew I had to break that puppy out again, throw it in my car and haul it out to strong & Shapely…
If your pecs are a weak body part, or, if you’ve simply hit a progress plateau in your chest development, then this high intensity chest training program will packs slabs of muscle mass on your chest after just 3-4 workouts and I guarantee it. This is a high intensity bodybuilding workout for advanced bodybuilders only. (Beginners don’t even think about it)….
I use a lot of variety and “muscle confusion” in my training, but even so, there is a thread of consistency that runs through most of my workouts. In other words, in every workout, something changes while something stays the same and builds on the previous workout. However, every so often, I completely change my “typical” style of training for something totally different or even off the wall, just for the “shock” value. Such was the case today when we did a session consisting of 100% supersets, which was also very hamstring and posterior chain focused…
