Tuesday, October 4th, 2005. 10 days out from the NPC South Jersey Competition. I met with Master Bodybuilding Trainer Richie Smyth again today for chest and biceps, plus he took a look at my mandatory poses to size up my progress. Good news, but still have work to do.

Saturday, October 1st, 2005. I can’t believe it’s October already. Today was the day I originally had scheduled for my first contest – the Natural USA (first once since 2001). As I mentioned in last Monday’s blog, I’ve moved back my competition date and actually picked two new contests, just two weeks apart – the NPC South Jersey October 15th and the NPC New Jersey Gold’s Classic October 29th. Although I didn’t compete, I took the trip up to Tarrytown to watch the prejudging at the Natural USA show today. Someone asked me, “Tom, Did you find yourself wondering, “Am I going to kick myself for not doing the show, or will I be relieved that I didn’t do it?” I’ll answer that in today’s blog…

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005. I did a fairly conventional straight sets chest workout today without all the intensity techniques I usually use. However, I did keep the intensity high by using high density training. For biceps, I used a brand new routine, but I stayed with the tri-set system because it has worked so well for me this year. My ab routine was done 100% dangling from the chin up bar and on top of a ball (read on to learn more).

Tuesday, September 27th, 2005. Most of the back work I did today was focused on detailing the upper back between the shoulder blades (“back double bicep pose muscles”), and also some rowing for the mid back and belly of lat thickness (cable and barbell). Definitely hit the bulls eye with this workout.

Monday, September 26th, 2005. Allrighty then… another 2.8 weeks of hard work until the first show October 15th. Time to dial in the conditioning 100%, lose some more weight to make the Middleweights, and chisel out every nook and cranny of muscle detail and separation. Today’s mission: Keep dieting, two 30-minute cardio sessions, and blast the deltoids and triceps.

Monday, September 26th, 2005. Yup. I bumped the show date. Not only did I pick a different contest, I picked two shows in a row. Not only did I pick two shows in a row, I picked two shows that are NOT drug tested! (don’t worry, I didn’t cross over to the “dark side”, I’m still natural… I’ll explain in a minute)…. Not only did I pick two non tested shows, both shows are going to be fiercely competitive because they are national qualifiers! Wassup with that? Read on to get the scoop…

Sunday, September 25th. Strong and Shapely Gym. Leg Day… And back to low carbs again (first day of “depletion phase” actually). Low carb day and leg day… not my favorite combination, LOL! I’ll tell you, it took every ounce of energy I could muster up to get through this one. It was good to have a training partner today to push me and keep me going.
